Starting a New Club
Any groups interested in becoming a Club Sport with the Department of Campus Recreation must first meet with the Office of Student Involvement (on the Lincoln Park Campus) and with the Assistant Director – Club Sports, Special Events, and Team Challenge. Once a group has met with both parties they may begin the process of becoming a registered Student Organization at DePaul University through OrgSync. Please read the following for procedures for initiating and becoming a Club Sport at DePaul University.
The initial steps include the following:
1. Contact the Office of Student Involvement about becoming an officially registered student organization
2. Contact the Assistant Director-Club Sports about plans to establish a club sport
3. Submit a written proposal to the Assistant Director-Club Sports detailing the following items:
a. Explanation about the activity and the club
b. Short term goals and objectives (things to accomplish in the first year) of the club
c. Long term goals and objectives (things to accomplish in 5 years) of the club
d. Needs of the club (facility space, budget, administration, and other help)
4. Complete the process required by the Office of Student Involvement to become an official registered student organization.
a. Complete the application process on-line on
OrgSync (https://orgsync.com/cas/depaul-university)
i. Attach completed constitution
ii. List 4 elected officers and a faculty advisor
iii. Add 4 members to the roster
b. Attend mandatory workshops required by the Office of Student Involvement (Registration workshop and SAF-B workshop)
5. Once the group is approved by the Office of Student Involvement, schedule a final meeting with the Assistant Director-Club Sports and bring along the following items:
a. List of interested people including campus identification numbers
b. A copy of a constitution and bylaws
c. List of 4 elected club officers: president, vice-
president, secretary and treasurer or their equivalent
