Pilates emphasizes the balanced development of the body through flexibility, strength, and mental awareness to support effective and graceful movement. 

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates is an integrative form of exercise providing a whole body workout, adaptable to all fitness levels. Participants of Pilates will gain strength without bulk, improve flexibility, increase energy, and improve posture. 

What is the Pilates Reformer?

The most renowned piece of Pilates Equipment involves a series of springs and pulleys to provide resistance. Over 100 exercises can be done on this amazing machine!

What is the Pilates Chair?

The Pilates Chair also called the Wunda Chair is a powerful piece of equipment that uses springs and a peddle to provide added resistance.

Do I have to be flexible to participate in Pilates?

Absolutely not!  The exercises are designed to increase flexibility. Pilates is perfect for those looking to become more flexible.

Will Pilates help me lose weight?

Pilates exercises help strengthen, sculpt and tone the body while building long, lean muscles. While Pilates can assit with your weight loss goal, a balanced diet is also very important. 

Is Pilates too expensive?

The Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center offers group classes that are very affordable. We strive to keep our prices competitive for our students and members. 

Can men do Pilates?

Pilates can be beneficial for both men and women. Many professional sports teams encorporate elements of Pilates into their strength & conditioning programs. Pilates can assist with injury prevention, abdominal definition, and increased flexibility.

What should I wear for class?
